How this data is collected

The South Florida Business Wire is compiled from the Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz) daily corporate data files — fixed-width public records the state publishes every business day at sftp.floridados.gov under /doc/cor/. Every listing on this site traces to one record in one of those files. Nothing is scraped, purchased, or inferred from a third party.

What we publish

For each filing: registered name, entity type, Florida document number, principal address, city and county, the date the state released the record, and the filing date the registrant put on the record. All of it is public record under Florida law.

Two dates, and why they differ

Reported is the day the record appeared in the state's daily file. Filing date on record is the date the registrant supplied. Florida permits an effective date up to 90 days forward, so a minority of records carry dates ahead of — or well behind — the week they were released. The Wire groups issues by the release date because it is unambiguous, and shows the registrant's own date on each listing.

Category is inferred, not official

Sunbiz records carry no industry code. Category is inferred from the registered name using keyword rules. Roughly 57% of names — street addresses, surnames, holding-company constructions — carry no industry signal at all, and those are left as Other rather than forced into a bucket. The headline "top category" statistic excludes Other for that reason.

Why every listing says "Not listed" for website

Sunbiz records contain no website field. A website appears on a listing only after the owner claims it and supplies one. That is why 100% of this week's registrants show none.

Corrections and removals

Accuracy is not guaranteed. If a record is wrong, or you want a listing removed, claim the listing and tell us — the Wire Desk verifies against the public record and responds within two business days. Removal requests are honoured.
